Planning Your Stay
Booking, availability, seasonal info, what’s included
How do I check availability and book?
You can check live availability and book directly on our Rates & Availability page. Each villa has its own calendar and secure booking form. If you prefer to chat first, we’re always happy to help by email or phone.
What’s included in the rental?
Each villa includes luxury linens, towels, high-speed Wi-Fi, air-conditioning in all rooms, fully equipped kitchens, and thoughtful touches like local wine, fresh flowers, and a welcome hamper. We also provide weekly cleaning for longer stays.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer flexible cancellation terms depending on the season and notice period. Full details are available during booking, and we’re happy to discuss options if your plans change.
Are the villas suitable for families or groups?
Yes. Le Moulin sleeps up to 10 and is ideal for extended families or friends travelling together. La Carral sleeps 4 and offers two bedrooms with generous living space — perfect for small families or couples sharing. Le Malbec is designed for two, a romantic retreat with panoramic views and a private plunge pool.
We welcome hiking and cycling groups, creative gatherings, and guests looking to reconnect in nature. The villas are not suitable for hosting large weddings, stag or hen parties — but if you’re planning a thoughtful retreat, from yoga to writing or culinary escapes, we’d love to hear from you.
Are the villas available for short stays or long stays?
Where exactly are the villas located?
Our villas are nestled in the Célé Valley in the Lot department of southwest France, in the quiet village of Saint-Sulpice — home to just 120 souls. It’s a peaceful corner of Occitanie, about 50 minutes from Cahors and within easy reach of Rocamadour and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, two of the region’s most celebrated hilltop villages.
Driving & Travel Questions
Airports, car hire, scenic train routes, directions
Which airports are closest to the villas?
Toulouse-Blagnac (1h45) offers the best year-round service and international connections. Rodez (1h) is the closest, with seasonal summer flights. Brive–Souillac (1h30), Bergerac (2h), Carcassonne (2h30), and Bordeaux (3h) are also nearby. All six airports offer car hire — see our Car Rental page for options.
Do you recommend renting a car?
Yes — having a car makes it easy to explore the valley, visit local markets, and reach the villa with ease. Most guests rent at Toulouse, Brive, or Bordeaux airport. We’ve partnered with Auto Europe to help you compare rates and book directly — see our Car Rental page.
Can I hire a car in France and drive to the villa?
Yes, most guests hire a car at Toulouse, Brive, or Bordeaux airport and enjoy the scenic drive to the Lot. Roads are quiet and well signposted, and having a car makes exploring the valley easy. We’ve partnered with Auto Europe to help you compare rental rates and book directly — see our Car Rental page.
I’m driving from the UK or Ireland — what should I know?
Many guests take the ferry or Eurotunnel, then drive south through quiet French roads. You’ll need your passport, licence, insurance, and a few safety items: high-vis vest, warning triangle, and headlamp converters. For scenic stopovers, we recommend Amboise — a beautiful riverside village rich in history and charm. You’ll find personal tips in Deirdre’s Diary.
Is it difficult to drive in France if I’m used to UK or Irish roads?
Not at all. Many of our guests come from Ireland and the UK, and they find the switch to driving on the right surprisingly smooth. Roads in the Lot are quiet and scenic, with little traffic and plenty of time to adjust. We recommend hiring a car for flexibility — and we’re happy to help with directions, route tips, or advice on local driving customs.
Are there tolls on the way?
Yes — if you’re driving from Toulouse, Bordeaux, or Brive, you’ll likely use toll roads (autoroutes). Tolls are clearly marked and easy to pay by card or cash. For route planning and cost estimates, we recommend Auto Europe’s toll calculator or Deirdre’s Diary for scenic alternatives.
Can I arrive by train or public transport?
Yes — you can book the train to Cahors or Figeac via Trainline, then continue by bus to Cajarc, which is about 10 minutes from the villa by car. Public transport and taxi service are limited in the Célé valley, so we recommend hiring a car for comfort and flexibility — see our Car Rental page for options.
Is there a scenic train route from Paris?
Yes — you can book a scenic train to Cahors or Figeac via Trainline, passing through rolling countryside and historic towns. For local exploring, we recommend combining the train with a car rental — see our Car Rental page for options.
Do you offer airport transfers or help with travel planning?
Yes — through Deirdre’s Concierge Service, we can arrange private airport transfers, a personal driver for day trips, or a taxi to and from the local town. We’re also happy to help with travel planning, route tips, and scenic stopovers. If you’re hosting a retreat, we’d be delighted to assist with tailored logistics for your group.
